The Sunrise Movement is a youth-led movement to stop climate change, secure a Green New Deal, and create a livable future for everyone. Advocates for social, racial, and environmental justice live throughout the county. Christine Byrne is a writer, activist, Sunrise Movement Sonoma County leader and an environmental science educator for Sonoma Water. Janina (Nina) Turner won a 2020 “Youth Inspiring Youth” Award from Sonoma County Conservation Council (SCCC). Together they will be discussing their experience as part of the and also Sunrise Movement's strategy to win a Green New Deal both locally and nationally and why climate justice is racial and social justice.
